festive {5}

He came down to earth from heaven
Who is God and Lord of all
And his shelter was a stable
And his cradle was a stall
With the poor and mean and lowly
Lived on earth our Savior holy

For he is our childhood’s pattern
Day by day, like us he grew
He was little, weak, and helpless
Tears and smiles like us he knew
And he cares when we are sad
And he shares when we our glad

And at last our eyes shall see him
Through his own redeeming love…

{from Once in Royal David’s City, a song I’ve greatly enjoyed singing to Brandt this Christmas season}

    Mmm. Heart-warmth.

    (And I love your nativity set!)

  2. Lovely! I hadn’t heard that second verse. It’s beautiful. And I’m intrigued by the fact that we both left off the end of the last verse…I’d love to compare the ends of the versions we each know. The one I’m familiar with peters out into an unfortunate clash with contemporary figures of speech. 🙂
